What: Step by Step Guide to Creating Old World Finishes with Amy Howard Products on Journal Covers & Creating Pages as well
When: Friday, September 4th & Saturday, September 5th
Time: Friday, 6-8pm & Saturday, 10:00 am-4:30 pm (PST)
I think we can all agree that we find great joy in having pretty and functional art supplies. So, my plan for this class was originally going to be a fun field journal to travel with. However, I have decided to shift my goal.
STEP 1 - We are going to take (2) 4”x 11.5” mdf journal covers and apply any and all of the “old world” Amy Howard finishes that you desire. STEP 2 - We will begin to create beautiful pages that account for your art supplies and some extra pages for you put pretty art you’ve made (to continue to inspire you). Confused? Think about a journal or place you can store and see all the samples of colors of inks, distress products, watercolors, markers, pencils, sprays, gouaches (whatever YOU want); one place to keep your art supplies organized (in a pretty way). If the idea of an organized art supply journal doesn’t appeal, consider just filling the journal with your favorite scrapbook papers, some of your favorite small watercolor paintings, a reference for watercolor techniques (ie how to create brick texture, what colors to use for mixing rusty pickup 2.0). The journals will be held together by 3 book rings, so you can constantly add or take away pages as you please.
*PLEASE NOTE, IF YOU PLAN TO CAST EITHER RESIN OR WOODCAST FOR YOUR JOURNAL COVERS, A PREP NIGHT IS SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY 9/04. OUR JOURNAL “CASTING ELEMENTS” WILL BE COMPLETED THE NIGHT BEFORE, THIS WAY WE CAN DIVE RIGHT INTO THE “FINISHES” & INNER PAGES ALL DAY SATURDAY.
**AH is abbreviated for Amy Howard, I have limited quantities of many of these supplies, however NOT all of them are listed on my website. Shoot me a PM if you’d like to check availability.
***IOD is abbreviated for Iron Orchid Designs, but really any silicone moulds will work just fine
****Class Supply List will be posted in the Messenger feed, as it is based on which “finish” you’re going for with your journal covers.
Class Supplies – Please pick the supplies you want to use, based on the descriptions below for finishes
Facebook Messenger Classroom - We have a private Facebook Messenger group for each of my online classes. If we are not “friends” already on Facebook, please send me a friend request here. I will add you to this Messenger group. It’s a place to communicate with fellow students, share work, and ask questions.
If you are a brand new student with me, you will receive an email from Lexi.Grenzer@gmail.com, which will include your first class outline. It is EXTREMELY important that you send me a friend request on Facebook, as we use FB Messenger for all class communication. Once we are “friends” on FB, I will add you to this private Messenger group. Keep in mind that I create a new messenger group for each and every one of my classes. In this messenger string, the very first message in the group will include your class outline, a zoom link for joining the class and any pertinent class information. Once you have taken at least one class with me, I will no longer send your class outlines via email. You will automatically be added to the corresponding FB Messenger classroom, where you will find all class details. If you have any questions, please always feel free to shoot me an email – I’m here to help whenever I can.
Please do not license the content created in my classes, duplicate/copy or reteach the classes/content (online, in person or via recording). These courses are intended for your own personal growth, and I’m delighted to share my love of art with you!
