Sacred Heart & Velvet Cloche
With Lexi Grenzer
I’m a sucker for a good vignette or display under a bell jar, otherwise known as a cloche or glass dome. I was inspired by an incredible piece that’s been circulating on Pinterest for years with tin sacred hearts under a bell jar. It’s sensational, and I thought I’d give it a go using the IOD Fleur de Lis mold. What fun this project was, and it has so much potential for alternate molds, for seasonal changes - truly, the options are endless! I will walk you through the process I used to make this piece, as well as share some inspirational photos of alternate styles.
Supplies:
- Velvet
- IOD Mould Fleur De Lis
- Alumilite Amazing Casting Resin (white quick cure)
- 18g Floral Stem Wire
- Heavy Duty Wire Cutters
- Styrofoam Half Ball (mine is 1.9”x3.8”)
- Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue
- Dresden Trim (simply search for “Dresden Trim” on Etsy for many choices)
- Acrylic or Chalk Paint (I’m using cream colored chalk paint, gold & black acrylic)
- Paint brush
- Nitrile Gloves
- Trash Bag (to protect your work surface)
- Glass dome or cloche (this is optional)
- Wood Base (this will be glued to your Styrofoam piece)
