One of the things I love most about art is the ability to simply play, to not have a specific goal in mind…just play. We’ll being doing a lot of play in this class, but we’ll be using the nontraditional black watercolor paper and some seriously fun colors! The best paints for black are metallic and gouache style paints. We’ll also be using our specialized brush(es) to create seriously unique flowers. You will need, at the very least, a Silver Brush Triangle in x-small point. If you have angle or dagger brushes, those are great too, but totally optional.
Supplies:
- X-Sm Pointed Triangle Brush by Silver Brush
- 18/0 Brush
- Round: 2 & 6
- Stonehenge Black Coldpress Watercolor Paper
- Metallics Watercolors or Gouache or Both
- Palette for mixing colors
- White pencil, Stabilo is great or White Charcoal
- Toothbrush (just for crafting)
*If you already have Prima Metallic Accents or Daniel Smith Duochrome/Iridescent, there’s no need to buy more. I will be demo’ing with the Derwent metallic set, but use what you have. As for gouache, if you have white gouache or bleedproof white or Flesh tint gouache, consider using those mixed with your regular watercolors. This is what I will be doing.
**Optional Additional Brushes: Angle or Dagger Brush
