Heeeey you glitter girls!!! You know who you are, the girls that have been squirreling away all those metallic and sparkly paints for “that special day”. Well, the time is NOW! Let’s use them and embrace all that sparkly goodness together! This book is absolutely ok for all the painty peeps, even beginners. It is important to note that purchase of the selected book or ebook is required for class and is NOT included in the cost of the class. Each week we tackle a new lesson, and I help to further break down and demystify the exercises outlined. This is my take on the lesson, and most lessons I go a bit rogue (as it’s my interpretation of the lesson).
Supplies:
· Metallic Watercolor by Elisabeth Gotz
· Watercolor paints – starting from scratch? On a budget? Try the Keff Watercolor Palette
· Pencil & eraser & pencil sharpener – you might want to consider a mechanical pencil, they give great tiny line work
· Metallic Watercolors (whatever brand you happen to have or like) – I have been collecting for years, but some of my favorites are from Emily Grace. However if you’d like to try the Lisilinka paints, she has great “tutorial sets” too. Just keep in mind that her paints are not a requirement for class. Two new Emily Grace watercolor options I love right night (especially good over ANY color, are Bright Star and Champagne), and not to torture you, but I’ll also be using the new Muted Florals set.
· Micron pens 01 (black or brown)
· Golden High Flow Acrylic Paint in Titanium White
· Palette for mixing colors
· Watercolor brushes Round 18/0, 2 and 6 (I use Black Velvet Silver Brushes 2, 6) but Princeton Select Brushes in this set are great too! Elisabeth uses a rigger quite a bit for her fine line work. I’m not a huge fan of riggers, I like the control I have with an 18/0, but I do own one and will occasionally use in class.
· Heat tool or hair dryer
· Art tote or rigid surface to tape your watercolor paper down to
· Watercolor paper coldpress 9x12, watercolor journal
· Paper towels or baby wipes
· Pipette &/or water spray bottle
· Optional: Kuretake Gold Mica Ink (with fountain pen) or Emily Grace “glow” inks or Pentel art CRAZY pop pens with great sparkle and shimmer, really any glitter pens – just take a look through your art supplies and see what kinds of fun sparkly supplies you have and keep them handy!
